[ The floor's a safe bet, against the wall near the bed because Bells will probably take the bed. ]
What've we got?
[ Not that it makes much difference, alcohol has very little effect on him anymore. Once you're a vampire, there's only one thing that really does have any effect, and that's not something he'll be having this evening. ]
Would you believe that I actually haven't got a clue? [ He grins, first sitting and then stretching out on his bed so he can reach for the bottles he's stashed under there. He thinks he'd gotten them from one of the kitchens though. That's a plus, right? ] They're not labeled or anything. So there's probably a chance it's not even all that good.
[ He holds out one of them to Aidan, tilting it back and forth as if to tempt him with it. ]
Even better. [ His tone's dry, and it's hard to tell if he's joking or not, but he reaches out to snag the bottle either way. He unscrews the bottle and lifts it a little closer to his face to get some sort of smell off of it. ] It's vodka-based. [ He sounds a little contemplative. But that's about as close as his IDing is gonna get, without a taste of it. So he lifts the bottle in a vague 'cheers' gesture and downs a gulp.
Then Aidan's shaking his head with a quiet cough-like laugh. ] Wow, that's-... wow. Are you sure you're not trying to poison me? [ That one's a joke, definitely, but the verdict stands. His bottle, at least, tastes like shit. ]
[ Bells isn't polite. He's laughing at the way he chokes on the drink, warily staring at the bottle he'd chosen for himself. A shrug, and he rolls it between his hands before twisting off the top. ]
You're not the first person who's ever asked me that. [ He takes a slightly more testing sip than Aidan, grimacing a little when he swallows. ] This one's the same, I think. [ But wait: ] You could tell what it was just by smelling it?
[ He might be lacking in some areas, but he does notice things. ]
A tribute to how much of my life's been spent in bars. [ Which isn't at all why, true as it is, but it's a plausible-enough explanation. This time when he takes a drink, he's ready for the taste; his brow knits, but only for a second. ]
Whatever you say, buddy. [ He pretty much ignores his response that way. Bells isn't sure if it's because he doesn't really know what a bar is or if it's because something sounds a tiny bit off to him. He just shrugs and takes a deeper drink, somehow managing to keep his expression straight.
Rubbing his face against the crook of his arm, he eyes Aidan. ] So, question for you. How long have you been stuck on this boat? You kinda seem like you know what you're doing anyway.
[ Bells does a quick finger tally. ] I think I've got a little on you. About a month or so. I always have trouble keeping track since I don't really need to.
I count by jumps. It's easier that way. [ Another drink, and then he exhales a breath of laughter and shakes his head a little. ] Sorry, I just-... Two months, already. It doesn't seem like that long.
[ That's not really what he meant, but he lets it go. Instead, he just listens to him. ] Nothing really does, you know? You blink, and before you know it, your life's over. Might as well make the best of it.
[ He tips the edge of his bottle toward Aidan like a toast before taking another drink. That is, of course, still going on the assumption Aidan's human. He's not talking about himself. ]
